I have a friend that is a preacher, and the reason I love him so much is because he KNOWS how to keep God on the throne. In other words, it's not about us, it's all about our God. I may have differing views on some things not important, but I can trust the Word of God from his lips. And in this day of Apostasy, that is saying a lot!
Some will say "of course" and automatically assume that because a person is a preacher (pastor, minister, evangelist, and so forth) that they will always promote God and His truth. To coin one of my oft used statements, hardly!
We are in the Last Days and God is doing His strange act.
One of the biggest problems for people of faith (and those claiming such), is getting out of the way of God and HIS work. They are in such need to be the center of the effort, no matter what it is, that they begin to feel that they are important to the work of God.
Again, hardly!
The only work that any human being is important to, is the work that God is doing inside of them. The changing of their thinking, the changing of their actions, and well, the changing of them! This is not about your calling in Christ. That can only be defined by your own willingness to participate with God in your life. I know this personally as I tried very hard when in my teens and early 20's to walk life with a constant presence of God in it. I nearly died.
So the understanding is this, that our Father, God, wants His children to successfully find their way home, back into His loving arms. His desire is to have a complete family, not a dysfunctional one that is reflected in mortality. That type of living is death, just as eternal as the life He offers us.
Once we know what is important to God, we can then make it important to ourselves. In understanding His focus for our lives, we can then walk focused and turn our efforts to bringing about what God wants for our lives. As I always say, you can't do what you don't know.
So the first work in our lives is to live. Much like the catchphrase "have a life, not just make a living", except a life of sin is actually more like a "dead man walking" than anything else. God doesn't condone or "DO" death. Death has come into the world through sin.
Do a world study on death, you will be amazed at what you will find. The Word Of God was written to define life, both sides, and leave us without excuse or knowledge. Within it's pages we will meet God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. And if we listen carefully, we will meet ourselves, mankind.
We must learn to have ears that hear, eyes that see, and understanding hearts. Then we will graduate from the milk of first being saved, to the meat of a mature Christian walk. And that Walk Of Faith, as I call it, will take us home. The Prodigal Journey complete!
It is that maturity, brought about by our discipleship in Christ, that gets us out of the way of God. It is being humble enough, strong enough, and willing enough, to allow God to lead, that we can get out of the way long enough that God can do the miraculous in our lives.
That is power, and that is the Eternal gift to us from our Father, through the victory we can have in Christ! It is everything.
Christians think small, even though they have a big God. But humans are too busy trying to put forth their own agenda, that they lose their way and eventually die. And that death is a complete death for those who choose sin. Death of their hopes and dreams, death of their joy and continued happiness, and when it comes fullcircle, death of their souls.
The Bible tells us that God is a God of lights, but when we choose sin that light is snuffed out. The promise is:
"That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;" Philippians 2:15 (KJV).
"This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." 1 John 1:5 (KJV).
So one last thought about us being important to God's work:
"Bear fruits that are deserving and consistent with [your] repentance [that is, conduct worthy of a heart changed, a heart abhorring sin]. And do not begin to say to yourselves, We have Abraham as our father; for I tell you that God is able from these stones to raise up descendants for Abraham." Luke 3:8 (Amplified).
The only thing important to our Walk Of Faith is God, and in that is eternity!
Be blessed, be loved and be at peace. May the light of God's glory and presence fire the brilliance of your souls. You are greatly loved.
