"Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you." 2 Corinthians 6:17 (NKJV)
These two passages were posted on Facebook by my good friend, Revivalist Jan Baker. And it got me to thinking about how we look to Revelation's command to leave Babylon. Some view this as the Roman Catholic Church (Babylon). But seeing this command of God was given in the Old and New Testaments, we have to conclude that God has given this command from the beginning, until the end of time.
It goes directly back to being equally yoked, you should have a basic understanding of how we should walk in Christ. It means more than being yoked rightly in marriage, in touches all parts of our lives. Let's understand that anything that is not of God is against God. I don't mean that all things should be God-centric in purpose, such as shopping at the store for food. But those things, places, and persons that are completely opposite to those things that are of God.
For instance rock music that supports drugs, premarital sex, and many other ungodly pursuits.
I lives should reflect God at all times, so it comes at no shock that our worship of God should reflect Him as well. We should be in places that spiritually feed us the truths and principles of God. That give us more than just the milk of today that masquerade as the meat of the word.
You have seen me post about Mark 7:7 which reads
"In vain (fruitlessly and without profit) do they worship Me, ordering and teaching [to be obeyed] as doctrines the commandments and precepts of men." (Amplified). And this is what is happening in the Christian world today. And anything that is not of God, about God, or given by God, is of the anti-Christ. It is surprising how many areas of our lives are being attacked to get us off track on our Walk Of Faith. But we are speaking of the church of today.
There are many Christians that put the authority of God into the hands of their preachers and pastors. They take what the pastor says as the Word Of God, and if not uttered by their pastor they discount the veracity of it. I have even had one man claim that Paul was a false prophet, showing just how screwed his teaching (or lack thereof) of the scriptures was.
Proverbs 4:7 (KJV) tells us pointedly "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding." But with the post-modern church of today, that is something man is not getting from the pulpit. And it was happening in ancient times as well.
So God tells us to come out from the apostasy (meaning: a totaldesertion of or departure from one's religion, principles, party, cause, etc.) because it is a tool of Satan, and the sinful/carnal man can not please God. Why? Because the sin of apostasy seperates from God, and the gifts He gives.
What gifts?
- Salvation
- Truth
- Mercy
- Joy
- Blessings
- Love
- Peace
- Kindness
- Forgiveness
Wisdom dictates that we should be afraid of losing our lives because of sin, after Christ gave it to us, through His sacrifice, for all eternity. Romans 8:13-18 (KJV) tells us clearly:
"For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."Apostasy throws this gift away, and all that it means, even when it's found in the churches of today. It means that we are responsible to know apostasy when we see it, to know the Word Of God, to recognize sin, and to know the substitutes thrown our way to takes us off our journey back to God.
We need to be "wise as serpents and harmless as doves" at all times that we not be subjected to the lies, confuse over what is of God and what is of man. That is why God tells us:
"Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." Philippians 2:12 (KJV).So come out from the apostasy that many churches give to it's members, instead of the meat of God. We must be responsible for our own acceptance of the gift of Salvation, and all that it means.
Be blessed, be loved and be at peace. May the light of God's glory and presence fire the brilliance of your souls. You are greatly loved.
