An Eternal Covenant

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." Exodus 20:8-11 (KJV)

"Every sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant."Leviticus 24:8 (KJV)

The church today is walking in apostasy. Apostasy: noun: the state of having rejected your religious beliefs or your political party or a cause (often in favor of opposing beliefs or causes). Harsh you might say, however it is accurate. Unless you take note of the true church as being those who are accounted His, by belief, faith, and/or manifested (seen) discipleship through Christ.

And saying the Disciples or Church Tradition (and who started that tradition?) or some other excuse, were the reason it was changed, or the authority to change it, by which the special day given by God was changed from Saturday (the seventh day) to Sunday (first day of the week), still does not negate the Apostasy. At best it is the relinquishing of our right as adopted sons and daughters of God, to let someone do so.

When is the last time you were at church? Now I'm talking about the main service, and not weekly Bible Study or anything else. So let me conjecture here (alright let's call it what it is, a guess!), it was Sunday wasn't it. It may even be a familial tradition, that every Sunday you and the family attend church.

We see that it is a Roman Catholic tradition and not a biblical unction or command. Even though they offer up so called "proof" using references that are not of scripture (The Bible, and not their version of it), and vaguely referenced passage from the Bible: Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2, Colossians 2:16-17, and Revelation 1:10, used as another avenue of proof.

So let us look at one of the passages (the others give no more proof over another), "And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight." Acts 20:7 (KJV)

And this changed God's edict how?

We see three things here: it was the first of the week, the Disciples came together to eat, Paul preached as he was going somewhere the next day (Tuesday). Again how does this change anything? One should note that the Disciples did not have any power to change anything God had decreed. After all they were men, yes good men, but men nonetheless.

God is still God, and He does not change (Malachi 3:6 and Hebrews 13:8).

This tenent of faith is more divisive to the Body Of Christ than any other. Name how many Seventh Day Churches you know? The main one seems to be the Seventh Day Adventist because many know of it (a good thing). However there are quite a few denominations that are Seventh Day adherents as well as many independent churches.

So since God made an everlasting covenant about the day of worship being on the seventh day of the week, then who changed it?

All the apologetics aside, let's look at the originating catechism from the first Pope, Constantine:

"First Sunday Law enacted by Emperor Constantine - March, 321 A.D. This Emperor is the true legislator of Sunday worship, not Amen as some suppose. On the venerable Day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed. In the country, however, persons engaged in agriculture may freely and lawfully continue their pursuits; because it often happens that another day is not so suitable for grain-sowing or for vine-planting; lest by neglecting the proper moment for such operations the bounty of heaven should be lost. (Given the 7th day of March, Crispus and Constantine being consuls each of them for the second time [a.d. 321].) Source: Codex Justinianus, lib. 3, tit. 12, 3; trans. in Philip Schaff, History of the Christian Church, Vol. 3 (5th ed.; New York: Scribner, 1902), p. 380, note 1."
But if you go out on the web there is still a debate and still as many viewpoints as there are misguided people concerning their faith, that is, most! So do I claim inerrant authority? Hardly. But I am a very staunch believer in the Bible as written. All the postulation (theory being quoted as fact) one can bring to the argument, the two verses used here settle the matter.

So we must understand something vital here: nothing in the New Testament transcends, changes, abrogates, nullifies, mitigates, or compromises ANYTHING in the Old Testament. That is why so many time the Pharisees had to back down from what Jesus taught, He taught the Law and brought Grace. Neither of which the Pharisees could address with scripture to invalidate it.

So they finally had to kill Him because they could not gainsay Him.

So my interest here is not to make changes in how you worship. That is between you and God. But I will repeat I only believe in the Bible as it was written, not as it is interpreted. Some will claim I am an emissary of the SDA church, sent to sew dissension in the Body Of Christ. Let me be clear: do with this information as you will, my faith is aa a private matter as is yours.

When standing face-to-face with Christ, concerning this issue, it is you that will have to answer "did you read my book?"
