"I will pray about it"
No where do we see anyone in Scripture, when a brother is in need, do they say "I will pray about your situation and get back to you." Yes we are to "pray without ceasing" BUT sometimes people that need help do not have the timing nor the ability to wait for you to pray about a situation.
In fact we are told by Yeshua (Jesus) Himself that if ANYONE asks anything of you if it is in your power to help then you do it. Luke 6:27-30
Verse 35 goes on to say "Love your enemies, give to them without expecting to be repaid." How much more should we be willing to help the Brethren in a time of crisis. Faith WITHOUT works is a dead faith.
Matthew 5 (Sermon On The Mount)
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’[h] 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
"Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."
I like what Frank Viola had to say on this subject.
There are times when we need to seek Yah (God) on situations and there are times where we are already instructed in scripture about what to do. Admittedly this is kind of personal for me right now. I have been faced with a situation that may leave me homeless and out of work at the same time.
I have reached out to my Christian friends who know me well and to some Churches and pretty much got the same answer. (Let Me Pray About It or I will send it over to our Care Team). Time is sometimes not a luxury. Now I have never asked for a hand out just a hand up until I got through a situation.
In turn I have never said no to helping others in need even to the detriment of my own safety at times. I have always been there for those who needed my help.
I read scripture and think to myself - what is there to pray about?
Bitter maybe - Crisis of Faith - absolutely! I am starting to believe that Believers like to talk the talk! (To be fair I have had some offer but circumstances cant make it happen) I do have friends who just have not been in a position to help me thru this mini crisis and to them I say thanks for the kind words and encouragement.
Think about it

This is personal to me right now, in a different way. What about brethren who have been asking for "emergency" handouts, and prayer, every two weeks, sometimes more often, for the last 12 years, but don't take steps to change their situation? I have the ability to help, but I don't, because in his situation, I think he should get a job, or two part time jobs, anything, even though it might be outside his chosen field.
What we need to remember is that whatever we do is unto God. If we are constantly wondering "IF" someone deserves something, then we have sat in God's judgement seat. However we are not to be "USED" but to be obedient.
That is the sign of a mature person of faith. I may have extra change in my pocket but does God want me to give it? Sometimes He says yes, but He also sometimes says no.
That is why we need to "HEAR" the voice of God deep within our spirits. And that comes from walking and maturing in Christ.
