I See A Different World

My grandma used to tell stories of her life when she was little until she got married. My mom tells her life stories, and dad as well. I now begin to think of my own story.

How I long to see the life of early 1900 and early 2000. Courting women, according to Grandma, men have to serve the family before courting, by fetching water for drink (there was no reservoir in the 80’s) cut lumber for cooking.

Ladies of that time wore long dresses (kimonos) and were innocent, home centered, and shy. Filipino women were known to be real feminine as well. Look at the picture of the early 1900s.

People were more sincere, loving, kind, clannish and great lovers. They write love letters and valued those letters. My grandma kept her love letters even until now. The men of the past valued women, after courting them, for they had to pass the test, to if they were honorable, before the lady would accept his proposal. There is a saying “easy come easy go”. And it applied!

In the year 1928 (my grandma’s birth year) there were no televisions. Children were respectful, people lead a simple life, they were hardworking, honest, God-fearing, had less crime, and had close family ties. Compared to my dad and mom’s time, there were little differences, but in the middle of the 90’s there were still very few internet café’s, mobile phones, etc. Communication was only a little high-tech.

Time has changed; I see a different world, the world that was, once upon a time, for my grandma, dad and mom lives is past.

My world is different with a faster lifestyle, high-technology, and very modern. You want a relationship, then just click your browser and get your choice (quick, fast relationships). Because of the hard times, women seek for rich Americans, or foreigner’s for a mate. There is so much lust in the internet now. Everything is fast, fast food, fast marriage, well just fast!

If you want to reach people from America, Australia, and other countries, just open your internet browser and one click you are connected! Before mom would relate to someone, they could hardly contact their relatives abroad. Now, just being a member of Social Network like “Facebook”, once there you can find your classmates, relatives, friends, co-workers, and meet friends, how exciting! The new technology has brought the world to us!

How about our relationship with God? It’s also a quick access on the internet. But people prefer to stay on the internet for hours, and do not have time to access our beloved God like they should.

So my world is different, I can see more crime rates around the world as well, and it makes me sick of the news every day! In the television all you hear is about the bad news; murders, drugs, rapes, disasters, poverty, hunger, etc. What a chaotic world we live in. The only good news I can see is in the Bible.

Psalm 1:1-3:

"Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers."

We are blessed if we don’t compromise our faith in God. We should not even walk in step of the wicked, nor be in the company with mockers, but we should delight and meditate on God’s Word. Now, is a different world for Christians and they do not have time to read the Bible.

The only thing that does not change, is the word of truth, the “Bible”…it is still the bestseller. If we delight and meditate in God’s Word, then we are like a tree planted by streams of water and everything we hold to will prosper. What a life of favor if we delight in Him and to the Savior.

Matthew 24:34: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”
Hebrews 13:8: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."

Why do I have to include the bible in my world today because the world is different. The world has change from better to worst. This is perilous time. Time changes. I want to be saved until the coming of Jesus Christ. What burden me is what was written in Matt. 24:36-44:

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left."

Let us all be ready and live a life pleasing to our God. When Jesus comes we should not be ignorant and knows nothing of His coming. Lastly, I would like to quote 1 Timothy 4:1-10:

“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer. If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters,[a] you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed. Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training are of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance. That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.”

Let us make this world a better WORLD to live, fear God. The Lord wants us to be Holy for He is holy. He has never change but we have change, the world has change. May we live a better world by making the difference. Stay in the light because Jesus is the Light of the World.
