A Godly attitude for a Christian is vital. Despite the cliche, we truly are the only Bible some will read. So we need to walk in earnest faith everyday and always. There are those who wish to judge you, there are those who wait and see what you will do, and there are those that God brings directly into your life for a direct purpose.
And it's your attitude that will either draw them in or shut them out. You are God's mirror and you need to always reflect Him.
And it's your attitude that will either draw them in or shut them out. You are God's mirror and you need to always reflect Him.
The expectation of your faith is that it is witnessed, it should always reflect God in everything that you say, do, think, and feel. Are you God's child or not? Your attitude should always be of Him. So the godliness of your attitude is the barometer, for which others will see, or not see, God's touch in your life. And that attitude should be a reflection of God's child reaching up to Him.
This attitude could be summed up, in that we should still have a sense of wonder in all the things of God. After all God is Divine which express as; Omnipresent: Present everywhere simultaneously, Omnipotent: Unlimited power or authority, and Omniscient: Total knowledge; knowing everything.
These attributes of God are beyond our finite, mortal minds to comprehend in their fullness. So it should engender a sense of wonder for us, as sense of the unattainable, and a sense of the magnitude of God. Yet this gift of Salvation places us firmly upon the road back home (The Prodigal Son journey), that when fully experienced, in heaven, gives us all that He has and is.
This is the power of adoption, received when following Jesus Christ (Luke 9:23). And again, when we can finally comprehend such power and majesty, that God gives in our lives, we can not help but feel the immenseness of our Father, and the immenseness of the Salvation gift given by Christ.
So being a child of God is important to Him, He loves us, and yet vital to our lives even more so: "But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God." Luke 18:16 (KJV). And we are the children.
So let's take a look at this more closely.
A Childlike Sense Of Wonder
"Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?" Exodus 15:11 (KJV)
"Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people." Psalm 77:14 (KJV).
"Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ." Romans 15:9 (KJV).And lastly:
"Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds." 2 Corinthians 12:12 (KJV).God does the miraculous, as for Him this is how expresses in life, ours and the world around us. Everyday we see this happening: The birth of a child, the healing of a broken heart, and the beauty of the rainbow. Again, everything God does is always of the miraculous. But we need to accept that into our lives, as God will not enter therein, unless invited.
Understanding how we should walk as the children of God, we find that most children have lost their sense of Wonder about things, in this post-modern world. Truly an innocence lost. With all the available media: television, cellphones, the internet, video chat, and other tech "toys", the modern child, has become a minaturized adult, and is not really a child anymore.
It is not the child's fault, by any means, as adults today are looking to please themselves, and children are just an added distraction. So these, and other gadgets, supplant the need for a babysitter, as they draw the child's attention away from interacting with others and keep them occupied elsewhere instead.
In the Christian realm, especially in what are called third world countries, this doesn't happen as often. The nuclear family is still mostly intact. And as a consequence of this healthy solidness, a deeper faith abounds, and a closer relationship with God is that much easier. Why? Because the voice of the world is more subdued, and does not intrude into their lives as deeply, separating them from the presence of God.
I grew up in the 60's with reruns of Shirley Temple Theater, and The Bowery Boys, etc. Where there was still joy and playfulness for the kids. Kids still had a sense of wonder about the world around them, and of course life in general, and as there were no demands for them to "grow up fast" it was still possible to inspire and amaze an innocent generation.
A sense of wonder was still to be had.
But as time has marched on, new distractions have arisen, to take us away from the real world. And other things as well have changed our society as a whole, and fostered a culture that has no time for the wonders of God, or to even a thought, whether churched of not, as to a sense to what is important to their lives.
God is the greatest parent of all, and He instills sense of wonder in His children, even as the world of perdition seeks to blind us to Him and what is of Him. These things that the world offers, are indeed the glass beads. But God loves His children, and will do all that He can to bring comfort, peace, joy, love, and that sense of wonder back into the lives of His children.
You don't have to go no further than to just look up at night to see the stars, understanding that our God has painted that. Our Walk Of Faith is vital to our lives, as it silences the voice of the world, as it truly brings a sense of wonder at the enormity of all creation, what God has done, and it's amazing beauty.
Our God is truly an awesome God!
Be blessed, be loved and be at peace. May the light of God's glory and presence fire the brilliance of your souls. You are greatly loved.
