"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23 (KJV) and" The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death." 1 Corinthians 15:26 (KJV). There is a lot here to understand, and as God has said "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding." Proverbs 4:7 (KJV).Satan authored death through sin, in retakiation to God who created man to be His children, with the same attributes as Himself. That is why man was never created from the begining to die. But when the rebellion came against God, death came into the world of man.
And sin is rebellion to all things God.
Perhaps an understanding of perdition would be helpful, as this word is used often, concerning mankind and the world of sin. "noun: (Christianity) the abode of Satan and the forces of evil; where sinners suffer eternal punishment." (Quick definitions from WordNet ).
Note the key words here: Satan, evil, sinners, suffer, punishment, etc. These are things not given to man by God, they are of Satan. And Satan stands against God and His children. We also know that to hurt someone whom you can't hurt directly, you then hurt their children, their property, and break their heart. Truly in this we can see the evil inherent in it.
Everything Satan does is designed to hurt God, and if possible, to usurp His power in the lives of His children.
He does this through killing, decieving, and lying, with the express intent to destroy all of creation, and mankind whom God gave this world to. That would be his greatest triumph, to destroy all the God that God is in the lives of His children.
But we know that God is all these things, and so much more, and given freely to all that are His:
- Goodness
- Love
- Light
- Joy
- Peace
- Truth
- Faithfulness
- Life
- Strength
- Eternal
- Abundant
- Giving
- Mercy
- and again, so much more...
Sin is Satan's battle for your very existence.
So Jesus Christ's sacrifice, and the bringing back to man a hope of restoration from sin, holds more than just vague promises. It holds more than we can truly understand, until we have grown mature enough to grasp the concept of the loss inherent in living in sin, which is a condition that is also called carnality.
And we have a clear statement from God one what that (carnality) is:
"They that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live." Romans 8:5-8&13 (KJV).And one last thing to consider here: God makes even sin work to our good (Romans 8:28), and to take us out of the clutches of death into His Eternal Glory. In this same book of Romans, in the same chapter, we are told in verse 17 the following:
"And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ;if so be that we suffer with him (overcomig sin), that we may be also glorified together." Romans 8:17 (KJV).We may believe that we are powerless against the wiles of the devil. That we are thrown back and forth on a whim. But God tells us how to overcome sin in our lives, and the above passage is what we gain. We are told that:
"For no temptation (no trial regarded as enticing to sin), [no matter how it comes or where it leads] has overtaken you and laid hold on you that is not common to man [that is, no temptation or trial has come to you that is beyond human resistance and that is not [a]adjusted and [b]adapted and belonging to human experience, and such as man can bear]. But God is faithful [to His Word and to His compassionate nature], and He [can be trusted] not to let you be tempted and tried and assayed beyond your ability and strength of resistance and power to endure, but with the temptation He will [always] also provide the way out (the means of escape to [c]a landing place), that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it patiently." 1 Corinthians 10:13 (Amplified). And in this power of God, that He gives unto man to be more than conquerors, breaks the hold sin strives for in and over our lives. We win and Satan loses, and you know what, I'm alright with that!
Be blessed, be loved and be at peace. May the light of God's glory and presence fire the brilliance of your souls. You are greatly loved.
