I must admit that watching the Obama campaign flay Romney's record at Bain Capital is like watching someone flay a dead horse expecting it to revive and run. Common sense has left the building. Even Obama's cronies in the Liberal Press have debunked Obama's allegations. And rather soundly at that.
In a recent oped we see this:
"First off, this is the President of the United States brazenly wrist-flicking the facts in an attempt to destroy his opponent's biography. In '04, it wasn't Bush who was behind the Swiftboat Veteran ads, it was an outside group. Also, the Vets questioning Kerry's record in Vietnam were able to back up their charges because many of those guys served with Kerry there. Obama's basing his primary attack on something the Washington Post , CNN, and numerous fact checkers have declared untrue.Though the media hasn't made Obama pay a price for this, Romney has begun to hit back with a narrative concerning the president's credibility, and this latest attack will only help to feed that narrative.Secondly, this Obama attack is extremely heavy-handed and even uncomfortable to watch. It's a vicious, demeaning, and mean-spirited ad meant to humiliate its target. This is far from the inspirational, hope-changey Barack Obama voters fell for in 2008 and a very different approach than the Bush campaign's towards Kerry. Though they mocked Kerry, it was with a much lighter touch. Whether you supported Kerry or not, you almost had to laugh." (read it here).
There are enough reasons not to support a re-election of Obama, but now he is giving us even more. But it is the spirit in which Obama is campaigning that gives a person pause to scratch their heads. Since Obama is willing to attach with already debunked lies, what does this say about the previous claims issued from this administration?
We were bombarded with much the same when we were given the weak "it's Bushes fault" mantra when those of reasoned thought confronted the president on many of his failed issues. Again we must shake our heads at the inane, juvenile proclamations of innocence when the finger pointing started.
How's that CHANGE thingy working for you?
How's that CHANGE thingy working for you?
Nonetheless the Romney campaign has responded much of this attack with (ibid.):
"Every day, President Obama hits a new low. It is sad and shameful that President Obama would mock America The Beautiful. But sadly it’s not surprising for the man who launched his presidency with an apology tour. The ‘Uncle Jims’ of our country – as he condescendingly calls middle-class Americans – don’t believe in mocking America The Beautiful and don’t believe in apologizing for America."
We need transparency in the White House, our very survival counts on it. But this is something that the Obama administration is unwilling to give. Remember that is another failed policy of this administration, regardless of his recent Television interview stating:
“When I think about what we’ve done well and what we haven’t done well, the mistake of my first term — couple of years — was thinking that this job was just about getting the policy right,” Obama told CBS This Morning anchor Charlie Rose in an interview taped today.“And that’s important,” Obama said. “But the nature of this office is also to tell a story to the American people that gives them a sense of unity and purpose and optimism, especially during tough times.”
The Mitt Romney response was very telling, and something we should think about:
"Mitt Romney chimed in, saying in a statement that, “President Obama believes that millions of Americans have lost their homes, their jobs and their livelihood because he failed to tell a good story. Being president is not about telling stories. Being president is about leading, and President Obama has failed to lead. No wonder Americans are losing faith in his presidency.”Republican spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski said Obama’s economic policies are the problem.“With 23 million people struggling under our slow economy, the decision for voters isn’t ‘can the president tell a good story,’” Kukowski said. “It’s ‘can the president create jobs?’”
Let's not believe political rhetoric to be the summation of truth. We have a lying politician in the White House, but even as I write this I can hear the naysayers claiming, "but aren't all politicians". My response is that we need a man of character to lead this country. In that people will see that and yearned to be the same, a people of character.
Why is this important? I will leave you with this thought:
"Nations, like individuals, are punished for their transgressions." - President Ulysses S. Grant
God bless America!
